Counselling

Counselling sessions are there to support you in the direction you want to go in life. To help you work through aspects of your life that are not working in the way that you wish they were. These may be related to the way you relate to yourself, others, work, intimate relationship or any aspect of your life’s experience.

A course of counselling can be brief. This is when you have identified a specific issue that you want changed. Once you feel you have resolved this you bring the counselling sessions to a close. This process can be between six to twelve session.

Counselling sessions can also be open ended. When you want to look at a wider spectrum of yourself and of your experience of life. Sessions progress according to what is important to you and you are present with at that moment in time. The phenomenology of the process is in your actual experience of the moment. This may be related to yourself, your relationships or any aspects of your life. The looking, processing and integrating, is a resourcing and growthful experience.

I have Post-Graduation Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy and am Registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Gestalt Perspective is based on the here-and-now in a holistic and inclusive manner. Changes can only happen in the now even If we are looking at a past experience. There must be something of that experience that has remained active and affecting you in your present life in a way that is not in sink with your mature Self. Gestalt is relational and encourages the realness of both yours and my experience during the sessions. Gestalt counselling sessions support and help the expansion of your awareness. Awareness is the prerequisite for changes to happen. This is an impactful and transformative experience.

Systemic/Family Constellation approach is more focused on facts and events that are not necessarily directly related to us and our experiences of life that nevertheless affects us directly. This process is more focused on wider dynamics that sometimes involves not only our family of origin but also earlier generations. Even though we are all unique individuals we are part of something much bigger than us. This wider context has a significant impact on ourselves and our lives. Usually, we are not aware of what it is, but we are certainly aware of how this manifests itself in our lives.

My approach is holistic, integrative, supportive and non-judgemental. In the counselling sessions with me the focus is the Gestalt approach. If and when, there are indications of a systemic issue I would share this with you and you can decide to look at your present issue from this perspective or not.
